Energy Savings by CHCP Plants in the Hotel Sector
Objective
A SAVE II project aimed to investigate the technical and economic viability of Combined Heat, Cooling and Power (CHCP) plants in the hotel sector, as well as the energy saving potential through this action. The hotels will be examined, through detailed energy audits.
Four Mediterranean countries (Greece, Italy, Portugal and Cyprus) participate, and the north will be covered from Sweden through a chain of hotels in northern Europe. Taking into account the fact that a CHP plant is economically viable when it covers both thermal and electrical loads for a relative long period, the cooling loads during the summer season should be covered by absorption chillers.
